Sega Genesis Mini To Launch In September 2019

Sega Genesis Mini will be releasing on September 19, 2019 in the United States. This is a compact variation of the Sega Genesis console that was very first released back in 1988 in Japan and 1989 in North America. The Sega Genesis Mini will deliver with the following devices, 2 wired controllers, a USB power adapter, a power cable television, and an HDMI cable television. The Sega Genesis Mini’s rate has actually not been exposed yet, however Sega has validated that it will ship with 40 preloaded games. Ten of these 40 video games have been listed on the Sega Genesis Mini site, with more to be included the lead up to its launch. The Sega Genesis Mini cost is $80 USD.

Sega Genesis Mini is noted here together with 10 of the video games to be launched at launch. These video games are:

  • Ecco the Dolphin

  • Space Harrier 2
  • Shining Force
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine

There is a separate website Mega Drive Mini for the console’s release in Europe and Australia. The Japanese variation of the Mega Drive Mini will ship with the six-button controller and a different set of video games. The games announced so far for Sega Mega Drive Mini in Japan are:

  • Castlevania: Bloodlines

Sega’s not the only business that’s tried to cash in on fond memories by offering a modern version of retro gaming consoles. Nintendo has already made the NES Classic and the SNES Classic Mini, whereas Sony’s made the PlayStation Classic. Not all of these have actually been successful, but there seems a specific niche for retro consoles.
